The Unfortunate Incident - Build You Own Ark Album

Review by Amy

Build Your Own Ark is the debut album from trio The Unfortunate Incident, and I have the pleasure of being one of the first to hear it. My first feeling before listening is that thirteen tracks might be a little much, but after hearing it the whole way through, each song just flew by in a quick and catchy form. The feel of this album is very creative, showing a lot of hard work has gone into it and each chorus has special melodies and wonderful rhythm. 'The Boy Who Stood Out In The Rain' has a Biffy Clyro/The Editors sound to it, and I hear many band influences in each song. The bass and drums in 'My Autobiography' are perfected and have motion that make the song easy listening. They are thorough in producing the album, making each sound jump out at you - but not too perfected that you don't get any character, because TUI have a lot of that indeed! 'Enjoy or Endure' exudes creative explosions, making it short and sweet, but battling it out for best track has to be 'Cause and Effect' with it's brilliant lyrics, and 'My Autobiography' with it's awesome sound. Russ, Dan and Tom have ubiquitous talent and I'll definitely be checking their live shows out at some point... Their album launch is on 18th July at the Plug.
