THE OUTLINE
Interview by Jess
I recently got the chance to ask The Outline a few questions, so read on to find out more about this intriguing experimental band!
What has the band been up to recently? Anything exciting to tell us?
We got back from our two months in the UK recently, so we're enjoying relaxing and playing some shows around Los Angeles. We're working on our new material and basking in the perfect weather.
Do you find there are any major differences between playing gigs in the US and playing them in the UK? What kinds of venues do you prefer playing in?
Haven't really found major differences, there's people in a room, and you play music and try to make sure they enjoy it. I love venues with a bit of history, like the Apollo Hammersmith in London, or an Opera House in Toronto, those are the kind of venues you don't forget.
Who are some of your current favourite bands?
Our friends: Rumspringa, Cavil at Rest, Vedera, Superhumanoids, The Franks, Wires on Fire, Living Suns, Great Glass Elevator, Twin Atlantic, Envy on the Coast, etc.
How about all-time favourites?
Bowie, Tom Petty, Zombies, Wilco, Nine Inch Nails, Radiohead, Bjork, it goes on...
Do you have any favourite songs to play live? Do some get better responses than others?
I really enjoy playing Aesthetics, some songs definitely draw bigger responses than others, i think the more energetic numbers are always stronger in the live setting.
Now for some random questions...If you could star in the remake of any film, what would it be and who would you play?
Theoretically, Dr. Strangelove and I'd be every Peter Sellers character, but there's no way I could ever give that kind of a performance.
If you could spend the day with anyone famous, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
I usually say Bowie, but today I'm gonna go with ...... Billy the Kid, just because I feel like watching Young Guns 2, though.
What have you got planned for the rest of 2008?
Working on our new record, we're gonna spend the rest of the year writing and recording, and plying shows on the West Coast.
Finally, is there anything else you’d like to add or promote?
MYSPACE.COM/THEOUTLINE and BARACK OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT. thank you.
Thanks a lot to the band for taking the time to do this interview. Make sure to check out their myspace site and listen to some of their tracks!
