*Warning* you are now entering a subtlety free zone *Warning* It doesn’t matter where the name of this band originates from (I’m guessing an episode of Black Books) because you can tell what kind of music they play, and no, it isn’t avant-garde prog. Sleaze rock/metal would be the standard labeling of this genre, but sleaze gives the impression of something unsettling and mysterious. But there is nothing mysterious about the lyrical content of this album; each and every chorus is about as subtle as a sledgehammer to the knees. Blunt-pervert-core is a far more fitting genre title.

Although not a direct influence, this album is quite reminiscent of Beyond the Valley of the Murderdolls (by the Murderdolls), the sheer level of open vulgarity only draws the listener in as the album advances to the next tale of lust and sickening desire. Even though the instrumental parts do sound annoyingly similar throughout the album, it’s the lyrics that people are really listening to. Not enjoying an album like this for its wordplay is like watching Die Hard for its philosophical references. For anyone who wants a better idea of Filth Wizards sound, imagine listening to a sludgy version of Type O Negative, but replacing Pete Steele with Roy Chubby Brown.

Fans on immaturity will adore this little album, however basic the sound of it is. But this is but a debut, better sound should come with time. It does seem hard to follow up an album of this character without merely replicating it. Perhaps the next step could be a concept album? But this would probably lead to plagiarism lawsuits from numerous porn movie scrip writers. Stand out tracks: Spank me, Show us yer Panties and Your Dirty Whore.
